Job & Internship Placement

Placement Assistance in the Division
Faculty advisors assist students in exploring career options, internship placements, post-graduate fellowships and other professional development activities. The Division of Public Administration maintains a Career Guide for Public Administration and Non-Profit Management. This guide is available in PDF form on this website, and it is also available in hard copy and CD format in the Division office.

Additional announcements are posted on the bulletin board across from Dr. Holmes’s office, distributed via email, and placed in student mailboxes.

WVU Career Services Center
MPA students should take full advantage of the professional placement services available through the WVU Career Services Center. They can provide helpful services at all stages in career planning. These services include individualized guidance, referral service, on-campus interviews, group instructional sessions, career resources library, courses in career exploration, and decision making.

Students interested in public management will find extensive information in the career resources library. Federal and state job listings are available. Applications, job descriptions, and salary information can also be found.

It is recommended that all MPA students register with the Career Services Center. This is required for scheduling an interview, although some services are available without registration.

Online Resources
In addition to other resources, the Division faculty recommend looking at these websites for information regarding jobs, internships, and other important information relating to a career in public service.
