Cheryl Dennis, JD

Cheryl Johnson-Lyons, J.D. received her M.A. of Sociology and her Doctorate in Jurisprudence from West Virginia University in 2004 and 2006 respectively. As a member in good standing of the West Virginia State Bar Association, she has practiced law in the areas of Family Law, Property Law and Business transactions. However, in her academic pursuits her research primarily focuses on the development of the U.S. Constitution and the interpreted affects of the judiciary on society. Her research has focused on the major ways in which law affects all aspects of our lives and is constructed to support the major social institutions that shape our day to day behaviors. She also teaches as an adjunct faculty member for the Masters of Legal Studies at West Virginia University in a variety of courses including the areas of judicial power and process, crime and punishment, and administrative rules.
